ABOUT THE ARTIST

Cynthia Packard

Cynthia Packard’s work moves between abstraction and figuration, driven by gesture, emotion, and an instinctive relationship with paint. Working from her Provincetown studio for decades, she continues to create immersive compositions layered with movement, atmosphere, and deeply personal narrative.

Cynthia Packard is a Provincetown-based painter whose work has been exhibited and collected internationally for decades. After studying sculpture and art history at Massachusetts College of Art, she moved to Provincetown in 1981, where she was mentored in drawing by artist Fritz Bultman, a close associate of Hans Hofmann. Her work evolved through an expressive and physically immersive process that blends abstraction, memory, landscape, and the human figure.

Over the years, she has taught at institutions including the Fine Arts Work Center, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM), Castle Hill Center for the Arts, and the Scottsdale Artists’ School. Her paintings are recognized for their emotional intensity, layered surfaces, and fearless approach to color and composition.

Working from her Provincetown studio, Cynthia continues to paint while remaining deeply connected to Packard Gallery and its evolving legacy. Through Packard Prints, a curated selection of archival giclée editions has been made available online, preserving the depth and painterly detail of the original works through museum-quality printmaking.
